0xCygaar, lead engineer and CTO of Cube Labs behind the Abstract blockchain, has provided an official clarification on the purpose of @OnchainChemists on March 27, 2026, addressing community questions about the initiative's scope and goals.

@OnchainChemists is positioned as an incubator that partners third-party developers with the Abstract team to build small-scale onchain experiments — not full-featured games or applications that would compete with existing ecosystem projects. The distinction is deliberate: 0xCygaar emphasized the incubator is meant to complement, not displace, what builders are already creating on Abstract.

How It Works

Apps launched through the incubator are designed as community engagement tools, featuring optional participation, small cash prizes, or collectible badges — sometimes both. Any revenue generated by these apps is reinvested back into them to sustain positive user loops.

The first project, Rugpull Bakery, is already live on Abstract with a $2,500 Season One prize pool, serving as an early example of the incubator's format.

Two More Projects Coming

0xCygaar confirmed that two additional teams are currently working with @OnchainChemists and are expected to launch on Abstract in the near term. Developers interested in building onchain experiments through the incubator are directed to DM the @OnchainChemists Twitter account directly.

Abstract is a consumer-focused Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain developed by Igloo Inc., the parent company of Pudgy Penguins, with a focus on games, entertainment, and cultural applications.
