abstractchain has upgraded its Abstract Global Wallet (AGW) to leverage privy_io's new Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)-based wallet infrastructure, the team announced on March 9, 2026.
The update targets wallet-level security, moving user wallets onto a system where private key operations are isolated within a TEE — a secure, hardware-enforced enclave that limits exposure even if surrounding systems are compromised.
Action Required for 2FA Users
Users who have two-factor authentication enabled on their AGW will need to manually approve the upgrade before their wallet is migrated to the new TEE-based system. Users without 2FA active are not required to take action.
The AGW is Abstract's native smart wallet solution, designed to give users a seamless, self-custodial experience across the Abstract ecosystem — an Ethereum Layer-2 network built on ZK rollup technology. The wallet underpins interactions across Abstract's growing app ecosystem, which spans DeFi, gaming, and NFTs.
privy_io is an embedded wallet infrastructure provider widely used across consumer crypto applications. Its TEE-based system represents a newer generation of wallet security, reducing reliance on traditional key management approaches.
Users with 2FA enabled should check their AGW settings to complete the migration approval.
