Abstract Adds New "Obsidian" Elite XP Tier and Cumulative Tracking Graph to Portal - Abstract blockchain breaking news
December 12, 2025

Abstract just previewed its next ultra-elite XP tier, Obsidian, and rolled out a new cumulative XP graph in the Portal—updates that have the community split between admiration and unease. In two posts, 0xCygaar teased that Obsidian will sit above Diamond and that “very few people” are expected to hit it, while also shipping a slick chart that lets users visualize their XP growth week over week.

On paper, the changes deepen Abstract’s RPG-style progression loop: whales and power-users get a new prestige band to chase, and everyone gains clearer feedback on how their XP stacks up over time. But in practice, Obsidian’s design looks aimed squarely at the 0.01% of wallets already farming at extreme scale—those sitting on stacked boosts, big PENGU allocations, and heavy volume across games, DeFi, and mints. For the average user still figuring out bridges, gasless swaps, or their first NFT, seeing yet another unattainable tier risks sending the wrong message about where Abstract’s attention is going.

The XP graph is a genuine UX win, but pairing it with a new “impossible” badge tier while onboarding docs, dev tools, and in-portal education still lag leaves many wondering if the incentives are skewing too hard toward existing whales instead of the next million users.
